Y.E.T.I. – a local non-profit that engages youth in the outdoors – is partnering with Sound Experience for an extraordinary overnight sailing program on the uber-cool Adventuress Schooner open to 7th-9th graders the weekend of Sept. 14-15.

“We’ve chartered an historic schooner and crew to teach sailing to adolescents,” Organizer John Nelson told The B-Town Blog. “However, because of a scheduling conflict, we have some open slots for the weekend of Sept. 14-15.”

Cost is $200 per student/parent. There is a limited amount of scholarship money for fee reductions and waivers.

This is a co-ed trip with an equal balance of girls and boys aboard.

Schedule from the North Dock at Elliott Bay Marina (directions):

  • Depart: Sat, Sept 14 at 9 a.m.
  • Return: Sun, Sept 15 at 2 p.m.

The YETI vans will be departing Normandy Park City Hall at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 and will return by 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, if you want to avoid having to park in Seattle.

Space is limited to 24 (20 students/4 adults).  Adventuress Student Info Packet

Email Betsy Boyer (btotheb@comcast.net) to sign up.  There’s room for a few hardy parents too. Once you have been confirmed on the trip by Betsy, some forms will need to be completed for participating parents and students. Forms can be found online by clicking here. Please complete and mail the following: Release Agreement, Medical History Form, Get to Know You (youth only), Get to Know Your Child (parents only), Code of Conduct.

“This adventure will surely be one of your child’s most cherished memories.  Don’t miss the boat!”
