Highline High School’s Key Club announced its very first annual community event: ‘Run to Fund,’ which will be held on Saturday, June 24, at Highline Memorial Stadium.
“Join us and your fellow community members, children and adults, in a 5k fun run for a good cause!”
As a community service club, one of the Key Club’s priorities is helping children, and so “we’re dedicating this event to funding children’s cancer research. Over half of the proceeds from this event will go towards the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program (KCCP).”
Now here’s where it gets even better.
To properly ring in the summer and to involve our community, we’ve enlisted the help of local businesses and partnered with the local Sweet Breeze ice cream!
That said, in addition to admission, each ticket will come with:
- A voucher for a free scoop of ice cream from Sweet Breeze
- A ticket to enter a raffle with prizes from local shops and restaurants, such as Page 2 Books and the Burien Press
- A free pin
- An opportunity to visit booths and to participate in fun activities
Sweet Breeze will also donate half of their earnings from this day towards KCCP, so also feel free to visit their shop after the run to try our very own Pirate Cookie flavor, made in honor of this event!
