Alexia Guajardo is a Senior at Highline Big Picture High School, and she is building a Senior Thesis Project around homelessness.
“I brainstormed how my project could engage in my career interest, which is pursuing the medical field as a Registered Nurse,” she told The B-Town Blog. “My idea was to create first aid kits for the homeless community. I began brainstorming what would be appropriate and safe to provide in the MediKit. I knew I had to think carefully on what the Kit would contain. I would specifically be working in the Burien area.”
Alexia is trying to raise $300 to build and distribute these kits to local homeless people, and hopes to provide the following items:
- Bandages
- Neosporin
- Alcohol wipes
- Sterile gloves
- Face masks
- Hand sanitizer
- Chapstick
- Sunscreen
- Insect cream
- Emergency Blankets
Alexia adds:
Mission: Simply to give hope, encouragement, and awareness of infection protection control.
As well as gaining access for those in need to receive medical supplies that are important to having a healthy lifestyle.
Alexia is seeking help to raise funds for her project, and recently created a GoFundMe page; for more info, or to donate, click below:
