It’s that time again… storefronts are festooned with “Back-To-School” signs and the smell of freshly sharpened #2 pencils is in the air. Along with making sure you’ve secured all the items on the supply list, you can also prepare for your student’s best start this fall by attending one of Highline Tutoring and Testing Center’s valuable parent workshops designed to share secrets to partnering with your student’s teachers to ensure they are best supported in academic progress.

Presented by Louie Lavigueure, special education teacher with experience in the classroom who knows what it takes to develop good school and parent communication.

“How to Talk to Your Child’s School/Teacher on Monday August 13, will share best practices for developing a healthy collaborative relationship with your child’s teachers and school. A valuable skill set to support any student from struggling, to average, to highly capable.”

On Aug. 20, you can learn the ins and outs of Individualized Education Plans ( IEP) for special education students. In the complex world of special education, understanding the implications and impact of your child’s IEP is critical to success as your student’s number one advocate. Louie will guide participants through terminology and common language you may encounter in the context of an IEP formulation and subsequent reviews.

The workshops carry a low $25.00 registration fee and include take-home materials and refreshments. Parents must call HTTC at (206) 242-0245 to register and save your space.
