Nature lovers and curious minds are invited to experience an “Owl Prowl” at Seahurst Park on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 6:30–8:30 p.m., for an evening of guided exploration into the world of owls and native forest life.
Led by naturalists from the Environmental Science Center and South Sound Nature School, the walk will wind through the beautiful forested trails and shoreline of Seahurst Park as dusk settles in.
Attendees will learn to identify local bird and plant species, examine owl adaptations, and participate in an owl pellet dissection.
“These animals and the plants they rely on have evolved together and play important roles in the health of local watersheds, as well as the mental health of people,” event organizers noted.
The outing is geared toward participants aged 13 and older and requires no prior wildlife knowledge.
“We’ll slowly venture throughout the park exploring the shoreline and the forest of Seahurst Park in some darkness,” organizers said. “There are some steep hills, but we’ll go at a slow pace along the forested trail and the gravel pathway.”
