Families are invited to Tukwila’s Foster High School on Saturday, March 29, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., for a fantastic free event: “A Family Celebration – powered by Vroom”, will bring together everything from local social service agencies offering hands-on activities for kids to magicians, from the wildly popular Reptile Man to the Woodland Park Zoo, from health services information to parents to free food and music.

The event is the launch of “Vroom”, a new initiative in Southwest King County that will seek to inspire parent and child interaction. Sponsored by the Bezos Family Foundation, Vroom will begin here and then makes its way to the nation. It seeks to provide tools to caregivers and children in the first five years of life. It is based on what science tells us about babies’ brains, and about the critical importance of those first years.

“We are thrilled to participate in the launch of Vroom,” said Steve Daschle, Executive Director of Southwest Youth and Family Services and one of the key community advisors to Vroom. “The Foundation is bringing us a program that is rooted in science and gives parents the tools they need in their busy lives. We can’t wait to see where Vroom goes from here, and are excited to celebrate the launch with this special day for the community.”

Music, food, arts and crafts, story time, beloved entertainers, photos, and much, much more — all completely free. A good deal for any family.

Foster High School is located at 4242 S 144th in Tukwila.
