The ‘Burien Birdfest’ – set for this Saturday, Feb. 14 at Page 2 Books – will have 3 writers, artists and presenters this year:
- 11am to 12pm: Judy Lane, local artist and photographer. Judy wrote, illustrated and published a children’s book about her dogs and a family of crows (Keiko & the Crow). Judy is also the featured artist this month at Page 2 Books. Judy will speak about her experiences with birds and how she integrates their images into her art work.
- 12pm to 1pm: Kevin Ebi, local writer, author and photographer. Kevin has written several books, The Wild Within, Running in Circles, Year of the Eagle, and Living Wilderness. Kevin will be speaking about his experiences taken from his book, Year of the Eagle which involved three years of detailed research at one Eagle nesting site and more than a decade of photography in their wintering grounds.
- 1pm to 2pm: Liz Mathewson, a local writer. Liz has self-published four books, Mama Fed Us Road Kill, Hospitalized, Hobby Farm, and Patches. Hobby Farm takes place in Hobart, Washington where an elk herd regularly feeds and travels through her property as well as thousands of birds that visit and feed on her property. She will speak about how to do your own self-publishing. For those of you who have ever dreamed of writing and publishing your own book, this is a must attend session.
The Burien Birdfest is a Public Service event sponsored by Bob Edgar and Sustainable Burien, Page 2 Books and Birds Unlimited.
This is a free event open to the public on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 from 11am to 3pm. Children are welcome.
