Hello B-town Readers!
I’m so sorry I haven’t written in a while! The day after the end of my 7th grade year, my cousins from Texas came into town. The next week, I went to Camp Korey and had a blast! (As I always do.)
Camp Korey is a camp in Carnation, Washington. It is for kids with differences. It starts in the middle of June and ends in the middle of August. It is Monday through Friday and every week, there are different kids with different disabilities.
I go to about two sessions a year (which is more than most kids.) This last session I went to was for kids with dermatology issues.
In the time span of about five days, we pack as many things as you possibly can. We have a huge camp-wide food fight on the Great Lawn. At the end the local firefighters come and spray water on us from up above!
On another day, we have The Waterfront Festival. Everybody goes down by the lake. There, there are tons of activities. Such as horseback riding, fishing and boating, pet therapy, and going to see their fresh garden!
On the last night (Thursday night) there is this big talent show, where anyone and everyone (counselor or camper) can do anything! But before we can perform, you have to get all dolled up!
Before the talent show, we have an hour of dressing up, getting our nails, hair, and makeup done! But everyone’s favorite thing about “Sparkle and Shine” is that the male counselors are willing to dress up, get their makeup, hair, and nails done. Almost every single male counselor has a bunch of makeup on and their hair sprayed pink or purple.
The part that everyone loves about this camp is that nobody has to worry about their “disabilities.” We can all just relax, have a good time, and be kids.
I’m so glad that I got to share this wonderful camp with you!
I will try to blog a lot more! Keep an eye out!!
Until next time!!!
