Highline Public Schools this week announced that it is inviting the community to dig for data and check out its progress in its new online, interactive Annual Report.

You can view the report for the 2016-17 school year at highlineschools.org/2017.

The new online tool, built with data visualization software, gives users an opportunity to explore district data—broken out by strategic goal, school, year and student group. The report showcases Highline’s progress toward its bold goals, including rising graduation rates.

“We have much to celebrate. Our graduation rate has increased for the fourth consecutive year, with students of color seeing the greatest gains,” Superintendent Susan Enfield said.

The interactive report also includes videos and narratives that tell the stories behind the numbers. By scrolling over numbers and graphs, users can read pop-ups with more information.

“We want to be transparent about our progress toward our goals. This report shows you where we have seen gains and where we have fallen short,” Dr. Enfield added. “In areas where we did not make as much progress as we hoped, we are analyzing our results and learning from them so we can do better.”

In June 2017, Highline reached the target date set for most goals in the strategic plan developed through a community process in 2013. With input from staff and families, Highline is working to update the plan and refine the strategies that support the goals. The school board is scheduled to adopt the updated strategic plan in February.

Highline recommends viewing the report on a desktop computer or laptop rather than a mobile device.
