From our friends at the Highline Schools Foundation:

Looking for that perfect present? Consider a gift to the Highline Schools Foundation:

Highline Schools Foundation unites support for innovative and equitable learning across Highline Public Schools. Highline Public Schools serves Burien, SeaTac, Des Moines, White Center, and Normandy Park. We are the only non-profit organization whose mission it is to serve every public school in our district. This holiday season, we are providing you the opportunity to give a gift to friends and family members by supporting Highline Schools Foundation.

How?

  • Choose gifts for friends and family members that help students in need in Highline Public Schools.
  • Order through the Highline Schools Foundation website using one of the links below.
  • Relax as we send your friend or family member a card letting them know of your special gift.

Clothing – $25
When families are experiencing homelessness, having the necessary clothing for their students can be difficult. Currently, 685 of Highline Public Schools’ students are experiencing homeless. Your gift of $25 can provide clothing for students through our program for homeless students so that they have what they need for school.

Food – $50
Recent studies have demonstrated that nutrition affects students’ thinking skills, behavior, and health – all factors that impact academic performance. Because of this, Highline Schools Foundation is providing backpacks of weekend food to students in need. Your gift of $50 can provide a student weekend food for half a school year.

School Supplies – $75
According to NBC News, the supply list for an elementary school student costs about $650, a middle school student almost $1,000 and fully equipping a high school student almost $1,500. For a family living below the poverty line, these costs are daunting. Your gift of $75 could provide three students with a quality backpack stocked with school supplies.

Shoes – $100
When families are struggling financially, they often cannot afford new shoes for their students. Students arrive at school with wet and cold feet, unable to fully participate in recess and Physical Education classes. Your gift of $100 could provide athletic shoes for 10 elementary school students so they they can run and jump at PE and during recess.
